Is a guy in a sportcoat ever "too dressed up"? (cut, mens)

I have a couple of nice casual sportcoats that I really enjoy wearing with jeans and boots on weekends. But I'm a mid-40s dad in a suburb, and tend to run with other 40-something dads, most of whom dress WAY more casually and generally avoid wearing sportcoats unless they have to.
I generally find that if I wear a sportcoat to meet friends, or even if I generally look put together at the kids' soccer game, someone will ask why I'm so dressed up. Or they'll seem uncomfortable if we are out somewhere and say something like, "I didn't think I'd need a jacket."
My wife and her friends seem to wear casual blazers all the time...so what do you think? Is this look pretentious?
This is the general gist of what I'm talking about:
I would find it dressy for a soccer game and maybe some other situations, but there's nothing wrong with it. Women wear dresses to events where other women are wearing jeans or shorts. I think that's a great look, so I think you should wear what you like and present yourself how you like.

Other than the context or the occasion, you do you. If anyone is trying to harp on you because of the way you dress (if you're wearing a sportcoat), then they might be jealous that you are putting a little effort into yourself. Do what you want and pay little mind to the haters. As long as you are not hurting anyone in a malicious manner.

More power to you. Who wants to look/dress like the average mid 40s man? Not me.
