Where does it end?! Just saw some woman on a news show and the huge thick rimmed glasses must have taken up more than half of her face.
Does this really add to anyone's appearance, unless they are really bad looking and it conceals more of their face, but for most people- maybe too much.
I see people in these massive glasses and try to picture them without glasses or with more proportionate rim sizes and styles and they would look so much better without the harsh lines obscuring their features.
I’m a guy, so I might be the wrong audience, but I’ve never found oversized glasses appealing in either men or women. I much prefer the slick ones that complement the face by fitting perfectly over your eyes without extending too far in either direction. Then again, I also prefer the no glasses look altogether, but if they are to be worn with proportionate rims.

I do like big sunglasses but ita....for ppl that wear regular glasses that old oversized look is awful...specially when they are bright or translucent AND all the dusty pinks for frame colors they are showing.
I MUCH prefer the no-frames look of eye glasses, but have learned over time, that they're a lot more fragile. Still...the next time I buy new glasses, I'm going to get a no-frames pair, and just keep my old glasses around, in case the no frames ones break or something.
As someone who's started wearing glasses again after my eyes rejected contacts after 25 years, I like statement glasses. I don't think my frames are huge or gaudy, but they're noticeable. I have a tortoiseshell round pair, a black pair that's kind of square, and a purpley-blue pair that are my favorite.
They have to change the styles, so they can sell more frames.....like anything else. I was watching the old game show, The Match Game from the 70`s, wow, the eyeglass frames were huge.

I dunno what the Match Game is...BUT yes...the style is called "70s oversized frames". Wow is totally right...ha. Large sunglasses have been in style for awhile BUT.....it just doesn't seem right seeing regular glasses like that IMO.
There are those who don't want glasses to be noticeable, and those who view glasses as accessories like jewelry. I fall in the latter category. When I do wear glasses, I want them to be stylish and interesting. The "frameless" glasses are such a wasted opportunity, IMO.
I love the oversized frames trend. It's a nice change from little rectangular frames.
