I'm amazed at older women dying their hair pink, purple, blue, etc. What are they thinking? With young girls, it's a fad that will soon leave....but older women???? What are they trying to prove?
They're thinking "some little baby is going to be sooo put out by my sartorial choices, bless their sweet little innocent hearts."
Or if in the Northeast, something a bit more colorful. Fill in the blanks.
I think the problem is that I have no idea what is trendy now!
Me neither, but I've seen so many trends come and go and then come back again over the decades that they all seem to blur together. I've never cared if I looked trendy or not in the eyes of others, I just set me own trends for myself. If I like it I go with it and if I don't like it I don't do it again.
I have a pixie cut right now, my hair is silver and I've been entertaining the idea of getting streaks of pearly pastel mermaid colours again, like all the colours in an abalone shell. It looks so good on white or silver hair. The first time I did it was 25 years ago when I think mermaid hair was still unheard of at that time and it wasn't a trend yet, but it's a colour scheme that I've gone back to several times since then. I'd love to see more old women like me doing mermaid colours.
1. Those puffy, thick, bloated, mostly brown sandles. Yuk. No! Why? Gross. They are the deffinition of "clodhoppers". They are very popular this summer.
2. Colored Pants suits - bright high wasted, flare leg pants. NO! NO back then and not now!
Leggings worn instead of regular pants/capris/shorts. I don't care how great and toned your body is, these are tacky to me when worn to the store or anywhere besides home or the gym. So many women do it though.
And given that something like 40% of the people in this country are now obese....
There is SO MUCH out there now that I don't/won't wear! Since there is SO much of it...I guess it must be my age...72.
"cold shoulder" tops (they are just ugly)
slides (the casual Nike kind AND the dressy mule types) I walk right out of them. (dangerous)
shorts with less than a 9 inch inseam (old legs ugly)
sleeveless or tank tops (flabby arms)
no high heels
no "flat" flats due to plantar facitis (sp)
dresses
pantyhose
zip/snap front jeans (elastic is my friend)
I guess I am all about comfort now. Fashion be damned.
Thankfully, the cold shoulder trend seems to be over. I never worn one.
People have different preferences. Some get their fun in life wearing nose rings. Others...in other ways.
It would be weird for the comments here to be all similar. Different people like different things.
I saw a woman working in a medical office that had a nose ring. I swear she looked like a bull.
