This is our culture, plain and simple. Women in North America shave their legs, their armpits and some even the entire pubic area. My husband doesn't like hair in those areas either. I also think that smooth legs are attractive on a woman.
However, in many countries, shaving legs is not customary. Men in those countries are just used to seeing hair on a woman. There is nothing disgusting about it. It has nothing to do with personal hygiene, a woman who doesn't shave can be just as clean as the woman who does shave. We are just so used to seeing no hair on a woman that it repulses us when we do.
As an example, let's take pubic hair. People who watch American porn will know that most porn stars wax their pubic hair completely, after a while men start to think that it's normality, although the rest of the world doesn't do it.
Smooth here. Body hair on me bothers me unless it's atop my head and above my eyeballs. If another woman doesn't want to shave, it's her gig. *shrugs*
What does get my attention is seeing other women with facial hair, mini-beards/mustaches who do NOT pluck, wax or shave it. I have to fight the urge to just reach out w/ my fingers and yank it off their face.

LOL. Thats it! See why I dont shave. I actually have less hair since Ive stopped shaving. In the winter when I wear pants and sleves I have absolutly no hair on my legs or arms. Even in the summer you would have to put your nose to my leggs to see it.
I remember being in Spain and looking at this poster of a family in a restaurant. At first glance I thought the mom had on dark stocking, upon closer examination I realized it was hair. Literally lost my appetite.
