I have never been a fan of flip flops or sandals. I've always preferred athletic shoes or even low top hiking boots. I do have crocs for the pool or beach and in the last 4-5 years I have found some Teva Sandals I LOVE. They have arch support and are super comfortable. (However, they are closed toe....LOL!)
In 2010, I was still past 40 but even when I wasn't, I was still a Stevie Nicks type.
"'Cause I wear boots all summer long.".
I'd say it just depends on the person.
Two things about being a boot person though the first doesn't apply to open toed.
A: You don't have to worry about your socks matching.
B: Being the klutz I am, I was once in the quak shak for stepping on nail. The doctor said it was good that I was wearing leather because it allowed the foot the breathe. It was the environment of "plastic" shoes such as sports shoes that didn't allow the air circulation that contributed tetnus.
Granted, Item B as well probably doesn't apply to open toed either, but I've recently realized another benefit about my decades long boot habit, where it is just natural that I am forever pulling on this wraparound of leather that goes at least half calf.
Being out here in the country, I worry less about what is out here in the country down around my feet.
I don't too. Probably because of the shape of my feet. They're a bit broad so I'm very self-conscious.
