Hello everyone. I am trying to find out information about Lowell. Could you tell me about the town? People, schools, price to live there, etc.?
My husband is going to be applying for a job with Ryder there. We are a family of 5 and have a dog. Are pets welcomed at most of the apartments/houses there? Do pets have to be registered?
Sorry for all the questions. I tried searching for these things myself but wasn't able to find much information. I did find some apartments for rent in the 1000's a month range. Is that the norm for the area?

I would really like to learn as much as possible about the town and surrounding areas before I have him apply for this position. We have lived in Arkansas in the past, but on the other side of the state (Walnut Ridge and Corning).
Thank you very much.

I've never lived in the area, but I know for a fact that one of the largest multifamily housing companies headquarters is located in the Fayetteville area. Lindsey management. Go to lindseymanagement.com for further info on that.

I would think that $1000 per month is very high. Even in Little Rock the nicest apartments barely break $1000 per month. That and the fact that the area is loaded with college kids that can't afford to pay a price like that makes me believe that you could find apartments cheaper. Have you tried apartmentfinder.com? It was very useful to me here in LR.

Thank you for the tip. I tried searching apartmentfinder.com but unfortunally they don't have any 3 bedrooms listed right now. I found a few that were cheaper on rent.com. A bit more reasonably priced anyway. Although they are listing some that are up to 1350 also.
I thought 1000 was pretty expensive also but I thought I would ask those that may live in the area if that was the norm or not. I have found that the more expensive places get listed on the internet sites.

Thanks again for your help.

I wasn't thinking 3 bedroom when I mentioned Lindsey management. I believe they are all 2 bedroom apartments. You might still check though. I could be wrong. I would think that you could find a 3 BR apt. or house to rent for around $800, but thats just a guess. Hope you find something.

There are also quite a few homes for lease in Bentonville, which is a very short drive to Lowell and has some great schools.

Searching, please send me a private message.

We just leased a brand new 3br 2bath 1600 sq ft home for $795/month. It is in the Rogers school district, but is less than 5 minutes from Lowell.
New subdivision. Elementary & sophmore campus are within walking distance.

They are pet friendly (we have 2 dogs & 1 cat - pay $200 non-refundable pet deposit).

I only have an e-mail address for the person I've been dealing with and don't want to post it in the forum.

Thanks

Hi Searching, I have lived in Lowell all my life. It is the melting pot of the world! All ethnic backgrounds live here, which makes it a more interesting place to live. Because we are a metro city we get more funding for our schools which aids in a better education for our children than the surrounding towns. We just hadt the Nationally know Folk Fest which people come to Lowell from all over the country to enjoy the culture here along with it's history. Ethnic food, dancing, concerts, many vendors, face painting for the children, pony rides, it's so much fun and it an annual event every July. We also have a baseball park, and the Tsongas Arena for ice skating and concerts. We also have the Lowell Memorial Auditorial for many different functions including concerts, plays, psychics, and much more.
Depending on the area you choose to live the cost of a 3 bedroom apt. can cost you andwhere from $750.00 - $1,000.00. There is also HUD lists you can go on which your rent will be a % of your income. Also the pay scale is higher here due to the cost of living. We also have programs such a fuel assistance to help you with your fuel bills and other programs to help if it is needed. There are many beautiful parks for your children to play in and many sports leagues to join and there is also the Boys & Girls Club, and the YMCA! Good Luck. Hopedelivers.

Craigslist has a lot of listings for NW Arkansas. When I used to live in Fayetteville (left in 2000) my rent for three bedroom houses was around $550 a month. Sad to see how much rent has gone up, I am pretty sure the income hasn't gone up in equal measure.

$550 a month rent for a house is a steal almost anywhere in Arkansas that I have been. I pay more than that for a 2 bedroom apartment.

I believe the Tsongas Arena is in Lowell, MASSACHUSETTS.
