There's nothing wrong with having some fear about this pandemic. It would be abnormal to not have some fear about a highly contagious, potentially lethal pandemic. That said, I agree that we cannot shut down the economy because people have to earn a living and not be dependent upon a government that cannot afford to provide for everyone. But being in bars and gyms is too risky for society right now. The poor essential workers are being unreasonably exposed and put at risk by people who want to drink in crowded bars and parties. If we wear our masks and stay home as much as we can we get this pandemic under control sooner rather than later. Ok, I'll get off my soap box :-)
What you are preaching may be true or certainly is to some degree, but opening up businesses is an absolute necessity. We have to get out, we have to do some socializing and we have no idea if staying home and wearing masks will solve all the problems. The view on the other side is: let it run its course and go on with life, still using common sense. No one is telling anyone not to wear masks, many just don't like to be told they have to wear them.

And BTW, for those who say it shouldn't or isn't meant to go political; well it has gone that way since beginning.

vcvs,

I am waiting to hear from the mask science experts on their published, peer reviewed research demonstrating the effectiveness of pandemic masks. I beleive that all they have is BS talking points as the TRUTH is the effectiveness rate of a rag on your face is in the single digits. I spent too many years working with repirators and hepa filtration to ever beleive this line of absolute crap. The truth is that wearing a rag on your face affords NO real protection. It's a head game.

Regardless of what has been known to be true for decades, I am willing to read "their" peer reviewed, published science. If they can't produce it, I beleive we should be able to shove a mask down their throats everytime they say "science proven". A little rhyme from my childhood comes back to me everytime I hear this mask effectiveness BS. It goes something like "Liar, Liar, Pants on Fire. Not sure I got the punctuation correct.

Totally agree with you. Show me the peer reviewed material and virus spread specific case studies and history. I've seen a few viral specialist say they do little good and may harm the one wearing them. Most of the media are repeating talking points for now.
