This morning, I'd like to say congratulations to my guppy girl who gave birth last night to (I counted) 6 new little babies!
I will be trying to sell them on craigslist once they get older so my tank doesn't get overcrowded but they are SOOOO CUTE!
I'm thinking of selling them for $1.50 male, $2.00 female, $3.00 for a pair -- petsmart is around $3/fish so it ought to be a good deal I suppose. How soon will I know the sex of each fish so I can advertise?

Reason: Asking questions
youll probably want to start seeling them cheaper than that...
because give it a few months and youll have more babies than you know what to do with...once guppies start breeding, its impossible to get them to stop lol
id sell em for $1 each.
generally with guppies males are more expensive than females because people keeping them as pets like the tails...if you wait untill there big enough to sex youll be overwhelmed pretty damned quickly
Congrats! It's hard to sell guppies since they are so common, unless you have some particularly desirable strain not typically found in a pet store. You might be able to sell them for $1-2 each, but I've never gotten more than $1 each for mine unless I sold something along with them, such as plants. You should be able to sex them when they are about a month old, maybe sooner depending on the type. I have some blue moscow mixes and the females are always super dark starting at around 1-2 weeks of age.
A $1 each, I'll put up a sign at work and an ad on craigslist in a month for $1 each to get rid of them. I just went home to seperate them (after doing some reading on what kind of water and stuff) I have 8! Just in time for Christmas lol
You can find some beautiful guppy pictures and learn how very serious folks care for guppies by searching for "fancy guppies" I remember reading about one breeder who changed 10% of the water in his aquariums daily and he had over a hundred tanks.
guppies are beautiful fishes pplz like keeping males because of their coloration and they can breed till death so they will keep breeding and eventually ur aquarium become overcrowded . try selective breeding so u have the color of ur choice keep the male and female of the contrast u want the babies to be and there will colors of ur own choice .
be careful if you have an under gravel filtration system ...
when I first started - I found so many under there still doing well ... food gets pulled down there are they eat well
