My wife and I are both retired and over age 55. I heard about "age-restricted" communities in Arizona. I would like to know if there are such communities in Flagstaff, Sedona, or Prescott. Thanks.

Not sure what your budget is for housing; however, if you're needing lower cost housing, this website will provide that information: http://www.socialserve.com/

There are some age-restricted RV parks in Flagstaff, but the residents seem to be seasonal. I think Flagstaff is too cold to attract many retirees

There are some 55 and over mobile home parks in Sedona and the surrounding Verde Valley. In Sedon, the best one is Sunset Village, and just outside Cottonwood in Clarkdale there is Pine Shadows and Lampliter Village (I believe they all have websites). You can live quite well and affordably in them.

I clicked your link and found the links to very low-end appearing housing.

Aren't there any luxurious (yet not CONSERVATIVE) communities which are age-restricted, not necessarily via by-laws (though that is OK, too) but because they are established areas where the kiddies have grown up and moved away?

If we move from the San Francisco Bay Area in a few years (hate to do that, but would like a lot more house than we can afford here), we would like someplace where McCain-Palinistas don't run everything.

Personally, I have no partisan leanings (detest both parties equally ) however, if you bought a home in the Flagstaff downtown area itself you'd probably find some upscale and eye-catching housing that would be "affordable" from a San Francisco market perspective, relatively ankle-biter-free, and politically left-leaning. Other neighborhoods close to downtown have denser housing i.e. tiny city lots, and more kids. Still generally liberal, too, with lots of city workers, university profs, et al.

Peeps with kids generally prefer bigger lots for the kids & pets away from busy streets and drunk college kids staggering out of downtown bars. A decent real estate agent could do a better job of pinpointing areas with upscale housing and few kids.

I'd say Sedona is the closest thing to what you're looking for. Forget about Flagstaff, there are not many retirees here in comparison with other similarly sized cities, mostly due to the climate.

Actually, as I understand it, they aren't allowed to pinpoint areas with few kids (except truly age restricted communities, of course). They can certainly pinpoint the upscale areas, and a drive or two through them at different times will generally tell you whether there are large numbers of kids in the neighborhood.
