We have decided to tour the norther part of the state. I have been looking on the computer at places like Page, Fredonia and several other little towns. We will go up into southern Utah -Kanab, right at the border to visit some national parks (the grand canyon stair case), Anybody got any experience or suggestions for must see things, lodging and easy routes to take?

sorry, but some quick clarifications....it's just the North Rim, not northern rim, if you're talking about the Grand Canyon.....and it's the Grand Staircase, not Grand Canyon Stair Case.....

lots to see....Kanab is a good base for southern Utah sightseeing....plan on lots of driving....if you have a capable vehicle, get off the pavement and drive some backroads, pack a picnic, hike, stop and look at views, slow down and take it easy.....all the National Parks and Monuments are great, but lose the crowds by going other places, too....

many feel the North Rim is better than the South Rim...a different feel and bigger views.....it's an "out and back" to get there, so plan your time well!!!....

if you have time in Page/Lake Powell, plan a full-day to go see Rainbow Bridge via the concessionaire tour boat....biggest natural bridge in the world, they say...awesome setting

weather can vary wildly day to night....

"Must see", is not always synonymous with "easy routes". Here are a few random places around Page and the north rim, rated from best to worst in terms of access.

Glen Canyon Dam

Slot Canyons

Horseshoe Bend

South Coyote Buttes

Wahweap Hoodoos

Toroweap
