Unfortunately the rant has already been removed and I can't find Google's cache of it. It sounds entertaining and I'd probably agree with some of it.

Sedona would be great if it weren't for the effing tourist crowds. It's gotten way way way way way way to crowded, even on non-holiday weekends. Last time I hiked Boynton canyon there more CA and OR plates at the trailhead then AZ plates.

Would someone who read the rant be kind enough to synopsize its main aspects?

Thanks

They were ranting in the attached document, which I assume has now been deleted. The person was using the F-bomb repeatedly in the rant. The person didn't like the affluent people who moved to the Sedona area from other places. The person was complaining about the low wages, $10 an hour they were earning, and apparently they couldn't afford to live there.

It's not known from the rant if the person made the effort to obtain an education so they would enable themselves to earn a reasonable income. Judging by the person's cursing and their limitations of $10 an hour jobs, they didn't invest properly in themselves, educating themselves so they could obtain a well paying job. Rather than improving their own situation, they blamed the affluent people for their own financial problems.

I know what it's like to be poor, and I know what it's like to be in the top 5%. Being in the top 5% is much better! I didn't change my life till after age 40. Most people that are affluent didn't get there because they were handed a pile of money. They had to struggle, educating themselves so they could work in a high income career. Then they live well below their means for several decades, and become millionaires. Most people have far more potential than they realize. Their potential is mainly limited by themselves, and they don't realize it. The person that was ranting chose to blame the successful people for their own shortcomings in life.

LANGUAGE WARNING, but a good read none the less.
Goodbye Sedona!!!
Where is the "RANT" that everybody is hollering about? It isn't printed. I'm thinking of moving to Sedona - so I really would like to see the post. Was it deleted? This isn't helpful. If everybody is so little-old-lady about profanity, then delete the offending words and insert blanks in those spaces, or symbols, such as ##**XX!!!**s. I, like others am searching for viewpoints on the livability of Sedona and would like to know what people think, positive or negative. I would move to Sedona for the climate and photographic opportunities, although it looks like there are no city services there, malls, shopping, hospitals, doctors, dentists, or much of anything but hotels. I need some real information.

Yep, it was deleted by the web site that hosted the rant. Kinda worthless IMO.

There are plenty of doctors, dentists, etc. Not a lot of specialists in the area. No malls but lots or trinket shops, if you really need a scorpion in a candy sucker or a t-shirt that says 'Life is good'.

It's nearly impossible to take a bad picture there and generally the climate is good. It's more extreme than lower elevations. The temp swings from night to day are pretty big and it gets cold in the winter. Lots of great outdoor activities and lots of tourists.

I'm moving to a Phoenix urb in a few months, but hope to make regular day trips to Sedona. Touristy? Sure, but I live in Hawaii now and lived in a tourist trap in Florida before. So I can cope with that.

Let the good times roll.

Hawaii wasn't for you? The climate in Hawaii is probably the best, but there are so many other problems in paradise, extremely high cost of living, extreme isolation, and the bottom of the barrel healthcare. No place is perfect, you just need to find the best place for yourself. Where in Florida? We're looking at Naples, FL now.

We visited the Flagstaff area because my brother in law talked about retiring there. Flagstaff is a small college town. We took a day trip from Flagstaff to Sedona. The road between Flagstaff and Sedona was pretty bad. During the winter with snow, that would be very dangerous and unnerving to drive on that road. Maybe the road between Phoenix and Sendona is better, we didn't drive on that road. Sedona is extreme tourism on steroids! Without tourism, Sedona would be a dead ghost town.

After spending only a few days in Arizona, we knew Arizona wasn't for us. To live in Arizona, you have to love the mountains, rock formations, and desert scruff. When people talk about living in Phoenix, I always think of sticking your head inside a hot oven! It's a dry heat, but it's like being inside a hot oven! Arizona is a no income tax state, which is great if you don't want to waste your retirement income paying state income taxes. A lot of people from the Midwest love to snowbird in Arizona, but it wasn't for us.
