When someone says "Florida sucks, I wish we could move" but then adds that they have decent jobs here it makes one wonder, could they not find those jobs elsewhere where they think it doesn't suck?

There are numerous posts from people on the forum stating they had to move here for work and they hate it but obviously Florida is enabling them to put food on the table even with as bad as unemployment is here.

Classic biting the hand that feeds you.

It's not always as easy at that in many employment fields. I've got a spouse in academe, and it took us a good 18 months for us to engineer what was effectively a lateral move from the much loathed Tennessee to a place that was not-Tennessee and seemed to be in a better location for our needs. He missed the bulk of the hiring season in year one, and had to wait until hiring season came around the following year. And this was at a time when there were a fair number of open jobs in his discipline.

Would you pay a fee of $10 for seven days access to a job site with real jobs?

I agree with you. I am one of those ingrates myself. Florida doesn't suck, well a few things do, but not why I want out of FL, you know why I do. I am grateful for what I have learned in FL, what I have experienced in FL. I just can't get used to the heat(that's not Florida's fault), and I don't want my daughter to go to middle school and high school down here. If I didn't have a child, I would be more willing to suffer the heat.

Grateful I have a job and a place to live, food, etc. i just can't wait for this heat to break, then I will be less"crabby".

I pay $0 for 365 day access to real jobs... NO one should pay a fee to find a job, that is BS.

That's understandable. You like things about Florida but hate the heat.

It is the posters that do exactly what the last poster I responded to did that makes me want to reply in the manner I did. He just bought a house here but obviously didn't research enough before choosing a spot and is now blaming the state for his lack of research.

I understand Florida is not for everyone and if people just came on a thread like this and said, I miss this and I miss that about where ever they were from, fine. When they just come on and say flat out "Florida Sucks", well then I am compelled to reply.

My daughter still lives on LI and the lows have been in the 50s and 60s. She tells me she loves it, especially since the heat waves they had this summer. She says she, and people she knows, are very happy about it and looking forward to FALL. My daughter has said on a few nights she shut off the fans, closed the windows, and has even worn long pants and sweathshirts.

I am very, very jealous. The forecast for next week in Naples is highs in the mid 90s. WHOOPEE. Sarcasm off.
