I'll be in Miami in April and I'm planning to go to NYC for 5 days.

I've been looking at Expedia and found that 4 nights + 2 tickets (I'm going with my gf) costs around 1,000 dollars (500 per person). Is that a good deal? Is that just normal?

Should I make the reservation and buy the tickets right now? Should I wait until I be in Miami to reserve hotel and get tickets for NY or that won't make much difference in terms of cost?

In miami I'll be staying in Deerfield Beach area so I think I should fly from the Fort Lauderdale Airport right? I think that's cheaper than going and flying from Miami City.

Please help!

Fly out of Ft lauderdale if you can, generally its cheaper than Miami (particularly because you've got discount carriers like Southwest and Spirit).

Is that with the hotel too? I agree check out Southwest or Jetblue to NYC. They are the cheapest around but you need to make the reservation in advance to get a good deal. You can fly for around $200 per person. Prices are going up due to the oil crisis right now.
