Cockaroaches (sp.)! You have to put cereal and stuff in sealed containers! Lots of snakes!

I saw a post about someone moving from New Albany to Florida! I moved to Tampa, FL from New Albany about 3 weeks ago. So far things are OK. One thing for sure is the difference in grocery stores. In Ohio there is so much variety. Not here! It's Walmart or Publix. Also, the gas stations are charging extra if you don't pay cash or use their credit card. I loved my Giant Eagle gas and food perks and miss them dearly everytime I need to go to the store. The weather is fabulous here and so worth the move! I haven't really noticed any differences in restaurants, it seems as if there is just about everything here that was in Ohio. I must say growing up around Easton and Polaris and all the fabulous malls in the Columbus area are much better than here! I have noticed the differences in car insurance prices and registering a car!

What you save in taxes in Florida will make up for any license or insurance cost.

You are spoiled like many of us with Easton but you will find the same stores in Florida, not just all piled up in one place like Easton is.

New Albany is actually expensive place to live so it would be hard to compare.

What area of Tampa did you move to?

We are also in Columbus and moving to Florida in 2 months.

Go out on the coast to find far better restaurants then we have here in Columbus.

Congrats on your move!

In Ohio yes.

In Florida they are everywhere, not just dirty homes.

Seal everything and put all cereals, pasta etc into the refrigerator for safe keeping.

The posters often times confuse cockroaches with palmetto bugs.

Palmetto Bugs are everywhere due to the abundant palms. If you have actual cockroaches everywhere then yeah.. You need to clean up a bit..

^^^^ Typical Palmetto Bug seen in Florida...

Ryan is correct.

Huge difference, in Ohio if you have roaches then you need some cleaning help.

In Florida they are common but can be dealt with by properly maintaining your home on a monthly basis.

Hi Ryan!

Default New albany, oh to florida

Hello! I am also very new at this..... My wife and I live in New Albany, OH as well and are planning a move to Florida in the next few months hopefully. We are 24/26 years old and are both Registered Nurses. We are going down to look at areas and homes at the end of this month for the third time. We are also looking for a similar community like New Albany, although I think it may be tough....New Albany is very nice! We are also looking in the Tampa area about 25 miles inland in the Land O Lakes, Zephyrhills area. Have you been down to look at areas of have you gotten any other good advice??
