I have been renting in sw Florida since Sept. 2010. I would like to buy a home soon. I have looked in Naples, Ft. Myers, and Sarasota. My price range is about 160,000 for 2,000 sq ft. I would like to have a lot of about an acre, and without an HOA fee. I have been watching the market since I have been here. What I have found is that prices went down and now that season is here they are up, but there is not much to choose from. Here are my questions:

What is the best time of year to buy?

Where is the best location to buy for my money? I don't mind semi rural, but also like to be close to stores.

Will more inventory be available soon?

Will prices come down after season is over?

Any input would be appreciated.

Golden Gate Estates in Naples. This particular area is not seasonal.

I would say the best time to buy is after April. Many sellers keep their prices inflated while the snowbirds are down buying.

The inventory is changing every day. You just need to figure out what area is best for you and keep a close eye on the new listings coming out. Some people like to be put on automated searches where you would get an email if a new property came on the market.

In Sarasota county, North Port Estates has had some fantastic deals. It's zoned agriculturally and most of the land is 3-5 acres. It also has very easy access to I-75 and is close to town.

Good luck with your search!
