I was looking for some current info on the Ruskin area in Florida. The posts I have been reading regarding Ruskin are from several years ago and I was wondering (and hoping :-)) that things were looking brighter there in 2011. I will be retiring from my job in Miami soon and am looking to relocate to a safer, quieter, more nature-oriented place, with less traffic. But I'd still like shopping to be nearby too. An ad for a place called the Riverside Club with a Ruskin address caught my eye and got me wondering what the area is like. I would particularly love to hear any comments from someone who lives there. Thanks for any information!

We also are looking at the Riverside Club to possible move. Sounds like they are a 55 and over community with great buys right now. Just don't want it to fold after we come down. Any information on the homes, golf, and the surrounding area would be great. Thanks in advance.

It's an unincorporated migrant community twenty or so miles south of Tampa. There isn't much outside of tomato fields and a drive-in theater. There are far better areas in the Tampa Bay Area (and throughout the state) than Ruskin.

I think you should talk to current residents to get a true feel for the place. I've heard negatives regarding the HOA and even that the residents aren't that cordial to each other.. Can't tell you much more. Ruskin is a pretty depressing place, imo. I live nearby and know. You'd be better off looking a Sun City Center, Kings Point, or even Valencia Lakes in the area.

What are the monthly fees? Condo fee? Utilities? Insurance, Taxes? Quality of the homes and the golf course. How much does it cost to belong or play golf?
