I find information that tells me different than you do..

Massachusetts Auto Insurance | UsInsuranceOnline.com

But, I guess like everything else it's wrong, misleading, etc etc.

Massachusetts Auto Insurance Rates

In a recent study, the average expense for auto insurance in Massachusetts was $1,051.60 per year. This ranked Massachusetts as 4th out of all the states for amount of money spent on car insurance. Massachusetts drivers spent on average $666.36 on liability coverage, $317.84 on collision coverage, and $149.92 on comprehensive coverage. Additionally, rates have been on a steady rise in recent years, increasing by nearly 30% since the year 2000.
Massachusetts auto insurance providers determine individual rates with two main variables. First, they calculate the total cost of providing coverage for the whole state, including the previous year's claims, lawsuits, etc. They then place individual drivers in certain categories by taking into account some of the following factors:

The prices are too high. i paid city, state and federal taxes on my income. electric rates were and still are the highest in the nation. A pack of cigarettes is over $10. Parking on the street is extremely difficult and garages are outrageous. The tolls on the inter-city bridges and tunnels are over $2.00 each way. The subway is like $2.50 a trip now. The winters suck, the summers suck, the crime is outrageous. So, yes, all relative.

Obviously you relocated here from there. Obviously it was pretty good there, quality of life, cheap car insurance, etc. Can you tell us why?
Why? Well for one I came here in 1994 when FL was a hell of a great place to come to. Cheap to live, cheap car insurance, cheaper than MA. I made the same money here as there back then. Not the same can be said today, as most states at least try to keep up with the COL, FL just lacks in that. In the past 18 years I have been here I have seen it go downhill in many areas. Seen everything inflate to where the COL is no better than MOST places. I am not comparing it to NY, NJ, CT, CA.... The most expensive states either, so the argument using NY isn't going to work.

I came here for the sole reason my ex's brother was moving down, he asked her and I if we wanted to come down with them, I was 23, there was no internet, I did no research, I did the "what the hell, lets go" thing. I knew FL had Disney, palm trees, beaches, and alligators... Of course I knew it was hot here, but not this darn hot...

Due to a hot weather health issue, and my serious homesickness, I will be returning to MA in 6-8 months. I was supposed to leave in June, but had to stay longer against my will.

I don't have to pay homeowners taxes, so that is nil. Don't smoke, so don't care. Better health services up there. I can ride my bike during the summer months without nearly dying of heat exhaustion, Winter I cross country ski. Here summers suck, winter is the only good time. There I paid $45 a month for insurance for my car, here $137 a month, for less coverage. Crime here is 100 times worse in a month than my hometown has had in like 30 years. Fort Myers has about average of 5 murders a month. Northampton, 1 every 10 years if that.

So no, this place is not my "paradise" never was, never will be.... A part of my life, yes. Had a good part of my life here, yes. Do I hate FL, NO. Hate the heat here? I Hate the hell out of it.

I already did a quote for my insurance when i go up. It came in at $677 per YEAR. For 20/50,000 comp, coll, etc. Here I am at $1314 for 10/20,000 PIP, bodily, com, NO COLLISION. Hmmm? that's odd.

Comparing New York City to Spring Hill (or anywhere else in Florida) doesn't make sense......

Of Course NYC is way more expensive than Spring Hill......Spring Hill isn't even popular with Floridians, it's nowhere near the coast and there's nothing but small businesses and homes there.....

New York City is pretty much the most expensive place to live in this country.....comparing it to ANYWHERE doesn't make sense.....

Spring Hill is RURAL......compare it to areas that compare...

No wonder Florida is so important to the Republicans during elections.......it's full of people who will blindly defend it from anyone who says it isn't paradise.....

By the way, I moved to Florida in 1987, it was a WAY BETTER place then- Now, it is just a cheap, pastel, poorly constructed veneer over a state that is SO FAR behind the times and has no substance......

If you are in to the following things....you should move to Florida:

Pastel "key westy" looking strip plazas that are 3/4 empty
Endless fast food restaurants
Tons of Walmarts
Terrible wages compared to many other places
Huge, empty condos along the coast that used to be hotels, marinas, ect
confederate flags
giant fake boobs
huge tires on pick up trucks
girls with big hair
styles from 10 years ago
7 minute red lights
90+ degree Gulf water temps for 3+ months during summer
Nothing but chain restaurants: Chillis, Outback, Carrabas, ect

$677 for one car is more than I pay a year for one car here. You pay more in a month for one than I pay for two. Must be some reasons behind that.

Moved back to N.H. a while ago and actually find it a bit cheaper overall. Property taxes are higher but thats about it. As far as quality of life, there really is no comparison. I lived just west of Spring Hill for ten years. You hit the nail on the head with that.

When was the last time you were in Spring Hill? Not near the coast? I think you need to look at a map. I guess J.C. Penny, HH Gregg, Best Buy, Sam's Club, Sears, just to name a few, are small businesses. Homes, yep a lot of homes indeed. People live here.

I am not comparing NYC To Spring Hill. I wouldn't compare NYC to any place in the U.S.

Yes, Spring Hill is rural. That's what I like about it. I spent 17 years in Orlando before coming to Spring Hill.

I haven't been to a chain restaurant in ages. Prefer the non chain places which are abundant here.

I have never seen a 7 minute red light in my entire life.

Confederate flags? Yes, this is the South. Its the heritage here.

I love the gulf when it's warm.

The rest of it, in my opinion, is poppycock.

So what keeps you here if you find it so disgusting?

I've been visiting FL since 1972. Stationed in Pensacola in 75, numerous vacations from 79-86 We moved here in 1988 to Orlando. There was a publicly accessible WWW in 1994. I was on line in 1984, Compuserve Information Service. I got plenty of info about FL in 1986 when we started our planning. Good solid info from people in Orlando. Yeah, FL changed a lot since then. So has the rest of the country. I have no argument about comparing FL to NY or any other place. Everybody else does that. You can't compare the northeast to FL, its two different worlds. FL, to me, is a great place. When we sold our Orlando home in 2005 we had the ability to go anywhere in the U.S. Leaving FL was not even in the cards for us. Yep, summers can be really hot. You really have to like warm weather to be here. I have no complaints about FL. It's exactly what we wanted in our lives. Has been for 23 years.

Enjoy MA!!!!
