After searching for jobs in Florida, we may have a potential job offer in Daytona Beach. We heard that we should live outside of Daytona because it's very touristy and we have a young child. My fiance and I plus our 19month old son would like to find a nice apartment community. Where should be look? I am not sure of our budget yet because we don't know how much he will be offered, but lets just say not over 1000 dollars a month.

If you have an suggestions on towns outside of the area or even apartment complexes we should look in to, that would be great! Thank you!

The tourists mainly stay down by the beach so your child/family will be safe if you live in the part of Daytona thats not near the beach..

Check out Port Orange which is the first town south of Daytona Beach. It's a family-friendly suburb known for it's good schools (Spruce Creek district). Look at the Pierpoint or Park at Countryside complexes as they're close to that neighborhood and would place you in an area with other young families.

Agreed, Port Orange or Ormond. My family just moved to Ormond and we love it! I grew up in Daytona so when we decided to relocate back to the area I knew I wanted P.O. or Ormond or even possibly parts of South Daytona. Ormond has a lot of duplexes which is what we went with, in my opinion is better then an apartment because you only have 1 connected neighbor and you get a yard and possibly a garage.
Check craigslist for rentals.
