look at how fast a Maglev train pwns a high speed rail train (at about 3:02). Meanwhile Americans still think paying high prices for gas and driving on crumbling roads is fine.

It's 10:46am on the train (see video), it was probably packed between 7-8:30 and later in the day.

The US is largely mass transit retarded and would rather ***** and moan about high gas prices and crumbling infrastructure versus doing something about it. It's little wonder our standard of living has slipped from 1st to 27th or so over the past 20-25 years.

It's nice, but once you got to your destination, how would you get around?

And 430 KPH= 267 MPH

First of all, I recently saw a PSA about speaking up when people use the word "retarded" and pointing out that it is an unacceptably offensive use of the word. So, please be kind enough not to use it.

As for the time of day...good catch...I didn't see that. So it is basically a morning/evening commuter train. I used to do that in New York (Westchester into Times Square, then subways to where I had to go) and there it was necessary to have both local stops and express stops. Obviously, a train like this would be pointless for local stops. I personally don't think it is needed in Florida and I wouldn't want tax money to pay for it but, still, I can see the value in the right circumstances.

BTW, in NY, I was able to drive to work as fast or faster than I could by train so it's not all roses even when there is mass transit. 'Course, the parking was a ******....

Because giving up our gas guzzling vehicles is quaintly considered "UnAmerican" and a waste of money by a vocal minority. These are the same folks who have no problem spending well over a million tax dollars a mile for more interstate highways, though.

How about we already have the roads and highways in place, they must be maintained, and we are already $14 trillion + in the hole with no way to pay it off? Just because an idea is a good one doesn't mean it makes sense to do it with no consideration for our present circumstances. And, yeah, I've lived the mass transit life and I prefer my car, thanks.
