This does not sound like a good idea on any level. Do you have family in Chicago or does your childs dad? If so then I think even on that level you need to stay there. To take on moving costs, have a child, no jobs, no degrees, are 4 huge reasons to not move. Even if you have money saved and I'm hoping you mean a year plus of living expenses for all 3 of you I still think it is a poor choice. In the future you may need that money for an emergency and then what? You could also use that for child's future education.
My suggestion is to stay put, get an education, and save your money. Maybe if you are working hard your family or his will help out to save with the child care expense. Then in the future you could relocate because you would have a better chance of success for you and your family.

I can tell you about daycare where I live in Naples. I tried several places to get my daughter into and most were filled. Women usually sign up their kids when they are pregnant or trying. The ones I did find that would take my daughter do not heat up her milk bottles or any of her food. I only needed her in there for two days as I was in school and it was $170 for two days even if she missed one of those days. The others would not take her part time and they were $230 a week.. A WEEK. Thats almost the same as my rent, which btw is sky high in this part even with the recession. For anythign decent and not roach infested that isn't a foreclosure and 2 bedrooms you'll pay more than $950 a month

Florida's economy and unemployment is almost the worst in the US. If you do find jobs (highly unlikely) you will be paid less than just about anywhere else in the US. Its hot and humid up to 9 months a year. Low rent areas are where the highest crime is. If you have a place to live now, employment and family close don't leave that for the Florida Mirage.

If you do go, make sure you have enough money to get you and your child back home. Over 1000 people a day leave Florida because they found it wasn't what they thought it was. Many leave distressed and broke. There are real estate agents, renal agents, moving companies and others that will make money when you move down, and move back. There are also people who have done what you are thinking of doing. Everybody knows why they want to move to FL, you need to learn why they leave. Read as many posts as you can.
