Hello

I am looking to move South to continue my career as a Certified Surgical Technologist. I am in my late 30's married and I will be bringing a now 11 year old with me (not sure how old he will be if we actually find something here). I am looking at either South Carolina, Georgia or Florida. I guess what I would like to know is has the job market improved. Does anyone have any idea if and what hospitals may be hiring in my field. I will be bringing a dog with me. I will need housing and I prefer to rent, so what are the rental options. I am not picky on a house or apartment it just needs to accept dogs, be near the hospitals or at least not an hour drive and have good schools. I currently make $19.84 (just received a raise ) an hour, does anyone know what the pay is for my field for your state. How likely do the hospitals here hire from out of state? I will be thankful for any information I can get from anyone.

Thank you,

Michelle Johnson CST

In SWFL a surg tech starts at about $13 a hour...not enough to live on and 99% of the time you're hired as a PRN and that doesn't include benefits.

That would be serious pay cut. Thank you for the heads up.
