I moved from PA to Florida in 9th grade. 9th grade is considered Highschool in Florida. You know what I love the most about public schools up north? Theyre inside! Yes I prefer indoor schools up north. Children in school should be able to sit down in the cafeteria for lunch. In Florida kids are eating lunch outside in courtyards or walking to Wendys. Everything in PA was more organized. Everyday students at Council Rock have a system. There was a lady in charge of the cafeteria. Children were told when they could eat according to homeroom.Table one and two you can stand in line.. In Florida they have one lunchtime and its all grades.. PA schools Cafeteria's boss lady was on a microphone. She would call out the row numbers for trays, trash& excuse us from the lunch table In Florida everything goes by the bell so take a ticket and wait in line..Trashcans are overflowing, kids are out of control going where they want when they want. Have fun walking the gum brick floor back and forth to class. They have ramps in Florida not Hallways. I moved back to New Jersey because my children deserve more then just breath taking beaches. I am sorry but this is the truth.
Sounds like you and your parents never caught on to how the school system works in FL. Your parents could have found one of the many FL HS that are in the top 100.

I have to respond because I actually just moved from FL to NJ and I moved to FL from Bucks County. I have a 2nd grader and I'm shocked that the curriculum in NJ is behind what he was doing in FL. I grew up in CT and never would have thought FL would be ahead but it is. His 2nd grade class is just learning things that he did in 1st grade. FL does have free PreK and then full day kindergarten so I think kids are coming into elementary school having had more education. They also have full time gifted programs with certified gifted teachers. I have yet to find any full time programs in NJ. They are all pullouts for an hour or so which isn't even worth it. So don't knock Florida. They manage to do a lot with a lot less taxes.
