I am very interested how many people living in Florida would vote in favour if it was up to public and if the law would pass.

The government shouldn't decide my rights because of who I love.

That's what I don't understand from the far right wanting small and limited government, yet they want the government to tell the people who they can love.

Call it Marriage call it civil union or whatever but they should be afforded the same rights which femal male married couples get. The churches and other religious organizations don't need to agree with it. They don't need to marry them but for the legal aspect it should be the same.

My feelings EXACTLY! I never understood a party who could scream from the rafters over personal freedom but could so easily try and dictate what other people do.

IMO marriage should simply be define as: two consenting adults, age 18 years or older.

Why people think they own the word marriage is beyond me as well.

It's more of a religious thing than political.

I agree that gay couples should be allowed to be recognized as being married by our government and states and should be afforded the same benefits that married couples get, however, I don't believe the government should force churches to marry them, and I think, like flyMIA mentioned, it should be called a "Civil Union" because the very definition of "Marriage" is: "The formal union of a man and a woman, typically recognized by law, by which they become husband and wife."

Good poll results so far, not a single No. It's why I like FL. I consider myself a liberal on social issues, a conservative on fiscal issues. Hopefully FL moves more in this direction (but doesn't it spoil it with increasing taxes, welfare spending etc.)

Marriage has changed though too. It used to be only between the same race. People have multiple meanings for the word God, does that mean only one religion should be able to refer to the higher power as God? I guess my point is people need to not be so uptight and if they truly are for limited government and freedom, mind their own business.

Same here for the most part. Unless the 2nd amendment is a social issue.
