I don't think this is legal anywhere and it would defy common sense, ESPECIALLY in Florida. If it is too hot for a human, obviosuly it would be lethal for a dog.

Actually i went to eat at Chilli's one day in Clermont Florida and two cops just happened to be eating there that day....well it was in August and it was in the 90's.....well me and my girlfriend finished eating and started walking to the car and she noticed a dog in a car with the windows cracked....and no one was in it.....so i said "Wait Here".....I went in and told the police guys that were eating ....and they said "That's not illegal"....and i just stood there like i wished they would at least look at the dam dog out there ......but they just kept eating....so i don't think it is legal if the windows are down or cracked if you have an animal in the car.....which frigin sux....or maybe those 2 cops were just more interested in eating thier stupid lunch....who knows

probably just wanted to eat their lunches.... jerks.

but more, i could see it being it isnt illegal until your poor dog is dead, or near dead, and then you can be charged with something... laws are stupid like that alot.

Here is the Florida State Statute for animal cruelty. It is very subjective. So I guess it wold depend on the conditions (eg temperature, ventilation, time in veh etc)

828.12 Cruelty to animals.--

(1) A person who unnecessarily overloads, overdrives, torments, deprives of necessary sustenance or shelter, or unnecessarily mutilates, or kills any animal, or causes the same to be done, or carries in or upon any vehicle, or otherwise, any animal in a cruel or inhumane manner, is guilty of a misdemeanor of the first degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082 or by a fine of not more than $5,000, or both.

Parked at Winn Dixie today, beside a car with a dog inside. Windows on mini van front were cracked about 2 inches. When I came back 10-15 min. later, still dog inside. Called the cops and they came within 5 min. He said no law, but a county wide ordinace (Alachua) county. I see this allot here [mod]trolling[/mod], but always take the time to call the cops. Used to cofront myself, but afraid of getting shot.

We sit in our car many days to eat lunch or wait on our wives. It does not hurt us if you pick the right conditions. If you take the same precautions with dogs, why is that wrong? What is the difference of sitting in a 90 degree field or a 90 degree car for 10 minutes, or two hours. We work our asses off in 90 degree plus heat all the time in the sun, for many hours . Yes 150 is wrong, but shouldn't judgement be allowed, as long as no harm is done. Yes some have poor judgement, and they should be prosecuted.
