I'm considering moving to one of the following beach towns:

New Smyrna Beach
Satellite Beach
Cocoa Beach
Anna Maria Island
Longboat Key
Sanibel

Of them, which one do you feel would have the cheapest rent (studio or apartment)?

Also, if you know of a beach town that you think is a better value than any of the ones mentioned here, please feel free to share it.

All I know is that you can cross Sanibel off that list.

"Sanibel" and "cheap" shouldn't be in the same sentence.

Longboat Key can probably be crossed off the list too.

I would say New Smyrna Beach is probably the cheapest listed followed by Cocoa Beach.

Rents are falling due to the housing crash.

Lots of people who cant find buyers for their houses for sale are renting them now so there is an over supply of places for rent.

If you have the know-how, you can find "cheap" rent on both AMI and LBK...what's your idea of cheap?

Try checking out craigs list. Try the daytona area for New Smyrna and Space Coast for Satellite and Cocoa beach area.

Satellite beach and Cocoa beach for sure. You can find a nice 2 bdrm for 800 or less, which is unlikely to happen in the other areas mentioned.

I agree that checking craigs list is a great way to go !

good luck !
