I am wondering if a group of us can locate a town, either in or out of state, where we can all move to. Once there we buy land, as much as we can, and sell back and forth to each other at reduced rates. This would cause property values to drop, reducing taxes. The like vultures we wait to snap up foreclosures and tax sales. When investors try to buy, we don't sell. We get our people into the county commission and make sure that developers get the run around. Sort of like the reverse of what has been done to us. If we get control of spiraling real estate prices, it will be a lot easier to build new businesses, and with the right people in the sheriff's office, exclude all illegal aliens. Crazy idea, yes. But then we would not be whining/complaining while the rest of the state/country goes down the drain. Instead of a greedy school board, individual schools could spend the money as they see fit, with the principals supervised by the educated parents. Also rewrite the zoning code to eliminate laws on appearance of homes and add new laws banning gated communities, condos and the like outside high density areas. Definately a dream, but it would only take 100-1000 fed up highly educated but financially frustrated Florida residents to do this. Want to try?

Default I'm in....

....as long as we can give worthless warranties on the houses we build and set up our own homeowners insurance company to issue policies that never pay off and I'm especially in this with you if we can legalize gambling and vice of all sorts too.....we can prepare phony I-D backgrounds that give us Native American status so we can call ourselves a tribe and front a casino we'll build to fleece the visitors and declare our enclave a tax-free zone...ohhh it will be wonderful.....we can have his & hers naughty bars in the theme park for vice....and we'll have a few Congressmen on the payroll to make sure we get favorable treatment in Washington.....

Sounds like a silly idea, but it is not. I have heard of a similar project being done/tested in South Carolina.

Might very well work. How many poeple moving out of FL in the next 6 months or so?

You never know, I have unknown background so I may be part decendant from some odd tribe..LOL! But I am surprised no one has "teamed up" to figh the developers at their own game. And if they push too hard, they could have more than they bargained for! In Florida isn't it possible now for some counties to vote on slot machines themself?

If this is true to you know the area they are doing it? I for one am willing to sell out and try something new, instead of just complaining to deaf ears or to those who understand but are too enslaved to change.

I am born/raised in Orlando, and I can tell you that almost all of the Florida Natives that I knew growing up that have moved out of state have moved to the North Georgia Mountains and South Western North Carolina. In fact, this region has real estate publications targeted to Central Floridians.

Hey, was I right, or what....the Associated Press reports that the Florida Seminole Indian Tribe just spent almost $1B to buy the "Hard Rock" chain from it's London-based owners.....oddly, the Hard Rock Casino in Las Vegas is owned by another group and not part of this deal...but still....it seems that my humor was spot-on....
