Kinda like hardcore trump voters, but I digress
Exactly. Gun control absolutely works. And the gun nuts wrongly believe that gun reform means taking away everyone's guns. Shame on them.

It works where? Not in NYC, Chicago or California. When will people learn that CRIMINALS don't follow laws! Also not all mass shooting involved supposedly assault weapons (assault weapons don't exist as this term was made up by the media). More people a killed with handguns than rifles. Also, how many people were saved by firearms and AR-15's, a lot more than were killed! More people are killed by drunk drivers than by illegal firearms and nobody is pushing to ban cars! Stop holding the firearm responsible and not the person pulling the trigger!

Also, the second amendment has nothing to do with a Militia! It has to do with a persons right to own a firearm SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED!

Our country already has a billion guns (slight exaggeration), so the only way for gun laws to work, which they could very well work is to have very strict and severe penalties for those who break them.

That's the problem with Liberals in this debate. Liberals act like they care so much about ending gun violence yet are often the ones to want to give second, third and fourth chances to criminals who use guns illegally or possess guns illegally.

The penalties need to be guaranteed and severe for criminals to fear having possession of an illegal gun. The penalties need to be life in prison for those who were to actually use a gun during a crime regardless if the victim dies or not. Until then, gun laws will change only a little at the sacrifice of a lot.

I'd also add... all the school walk outs are pretty pointless coming from the students... how about walking out with real purpose like, let's put an end to bullying the kids who end up hating their life so much they want to kill everyone???!!

Trying to get specific about the political effects, is this changing anything in the Senate race?

Gun control is more likely to push Florida to the right than the left. It's a big time loser at the ballot box. Just look at the Colorado recall elections for evidence of that.

Lots can change in a decade or two. Cali outlawed gay marriage in 2008 and even FL now widely supports it in recent polling.

Nra has terrible poll numbers from the general public if you check the recent data. Tide is turning against unchecked and unregulated guns

No. I find it worthless. National polls on political issues in this country are meaningless. Polls need to be done state by state, and sometimes even congressional district by congressional district, if they want to get any idea what the political effect of an issue will be.

I find it likely that a majority of the population in the country may support gun control. I find it equally as likely that a majority of the population in the majority of states, and even congressional districts does not support gun control. The latter is vastly more important.
