This is what makes the world go around, different choices. Your local Walmarts might be just great, those in our area are not. The stores are cluttered, sometimes just plain dirty, they stay out of stock of many items on a regular basis, they treat their employees sort of shabbily by jerking their hours around based upon a "Surge Program". They are subject to both call ins and don't come ins based upon demand. Our local stores have constant turnover and it is easier to pull a wisdom tooth than get a smile.
No question some of the pricing is less but, at least to me, the price is not everything.

I love self check out since I rarely have a lot of items and I’m in and out in no time. Those who don’t like it go wait in line.

Because there are so many shady characters shoplifting at Publix stores that Publix probably figures it's less expensive to have cashiers ringing people up than people using self-checkouts where they might "miss" ringing up lots of the things that go into their bags.

Target has self-checkouts at the Coral Ridge Mall in Fort Lauderdale but there are also several Target employees always in the area to make sure things are being rung up, plus they have a security guard who is usually stationed near the self-checkouts. I've never seen a security guard at the Five Points Publix in Wilton Manors but then they don't offer self-checkouts there because of the high incidents of shop lifting at that store that were once reported on heavily in the now defunct newspaper, The Islander.

That's interesting.

So, you get your truck's tires rotated and oil changed weekly when you go grocery shopping?

Or perhaps you stock up and only buy groceries annually?

I go to my Ford dealer to have that done, costs a little more but I have someone knowledgable doing the work and checking for possible issues.
And no, our Ford dealer does not sell groceries!

Can't rotate the tires on my Corvette and the way i burn thru them every few months it would be a waste anyways. Oil is changed once a year. Last thing on my mind when i am at a Publix is having my oil changed.

My nephew had his car engine damaged after an oil change in his car was done improperly at Walmart. This was a few years ago, I don't remember the outcome. I'll have to ask him if WM was eventually held responsible or not.

I would never let Walmart touch my car.

So, this northerner went on the Publix Facebook page and not only complained about the lack of self-checkout (which does exist at some stores), but went on a rant comparing it negatively to Jewel/Kroger when Publix replied. He got lambasted. Over 200 replies. It was on my feed because a FB friend commented on it. I wonder if he will delete the post when he checks FB again. Hahaha.

I've had several cars that get well over 100,000 miles and oil changes and tire rotation is as basic as putting gas in the car. Not a complicated task.
