After a delayed rainy season, I haven’t had to water the new trees I planted earlier in the year. I use a 150 foot water hose on areas of our 1/2 acre, so I’m well aware of when it doesn’t rain. I haven’t had to water the trees and our bananas are getting plenty of water.

I’m further south, around the Venice area, about a mile and a half from the Gulf. There’s been several severe thunderstorms in the past two weeks that dumped a lot of rain. Not needing to haul around the hose to reach far areas makes me very happy.

I got stuck at the post office at the Suniland Shopping Center about 3pm today. When I went inside it wasn't raining, when I came out it was a monsoon. I had to wait a few minutes to get to my car, I did, but I still got soaked anyway!

Have you ever spent a month in a condo or a house in Florida with no electric, no A/C? It isn't fun! I was in Satellite Beach in an ocean condo in 2004 and could not open my balcony door to get air because the humidity kept setting off the smoke detector. It sucked. LOL
Yeah the aftermath is no joke. It's just that it's portrayed that Florida gets hit yearly by major storms but even New England gets more action than this state. Global warming hasn't led to more hurricane landfalls for here and since 1951, has been quieter. 1920s-1940s were much worse, but FL had less than a tenth of the current day population. It's been 100 years for Tampa, 55 years for northeast Florida and 30 years for southeast Florida. What has stopped are October hurricanes from the Caribbean.
