Hi,
I'm a 55 yr old woman, my husband is 58. He just got a job in Sarasota, FL Cattleridge Blvd, 34276. Salary 100k. Where can we find a safe, close to the beach, not too far from work, house? We may be 55+, but we are a vibrant, healthy, active couple that love sailing, surfing, and road trips!
At first we will be renting until we sell our beach apartment in San Juan, Puerto Rico. But I want to start research now. I hope that's enough information so you can suggest a nice place. Thank you.

Hi!

What's PR like? I was looking into a possible job in Arecibo. I heard the surfing was pretty good there. How are the housing prices? I'd like to live close enough to the ocean to run out and check it each morning to see if it's worth getting in a session before work.

Unfortunately the gulf side where you're at almost never gets any decent swell. But you can always take a road trip up the East Coast and chase hurricanes or winter swells.

Puerto Rico is a warm island in spring, fall, winter. In summer it's hot. Arecibo has surf, but nothing like Rincon on the west side of island. Also it's seasonal so there's always a swell somewhere. Of course distance here is no issue. Properties close to the ocean are expensive.
Yes I know about the gulf side, but it's ok. We can always sail.

How big is PR? How long does it take to drive end-to-end Say, for instance, if I was on one end of the island and the surf was good on the other end, how long of a trip would that be?

Gina, can you share some things about PR with us? I think a lot of us are fascinated with it. We have some family who vacationed there and loved it. So tell us all about it, PLEASE

I live just east of Cattleridge, about 5 min. away. You're not far away from the beach, may be 15 min? Unless you want to be closer. Bee Ridge rd is very busy, it might take you up to 25 min to get to the beach in heavy traffic, depends on time of the day.
If you want closer to the beach, look at Gulf Gate area or Siesta, housing will be more expensive of course near Siesta.

What does your husband do for 100K?
