Those good old redneck bubbas.... Can't just let go of the civil war. I have a license plate with the flag of Spain on my car, but a true 100% american here. Just proud of my heritage. Grandparents from Spain. Moms grandparents are french canadian. I bet that dude with the redneck flag has a mix of different migrant grandparents from way back when... Joke is on him.

I worked with a guy that was CONSTANTLY complaining about mexicans, cubans, and puerto ricans flying their countries flags on their cars and living in America...

The same man that made that comment has ( or atleast had, it's been 10 years ) a 15x15 confederate flag on the back window of his truck.

Yeah, but your one of the good malcontents!

But honestly, your right. That's what makes Florida such a crazy place, and that subtle craziness is what I love about it in the first place...

¿Hola gypsychic, cómo anda hoy?

My father goes there every few years, takes many photographs there(he's a professional photographer/professor). It is beautiful there, someday I will go. My grandfathers parents are from Barcelona and Madrid.

Mine came from the Asturias. I've seen home movies of the area that my cousin took - breathtakingly beautiful. I would love to visit Spain some day - but we may have to win the lottery first! I have a book on Spain and Barcelona and Madrid are two places I would just LOVE to see! It's got to be one of the most beautiful countries on earth. Love the cuisine, too - all my relatives are/were fantastic cooks, many in the restaurant business. In fact, that is one of the things I love about Florida - the Spanish influence - in architecture and FOOD!

You gals are making me hungry for Spanish rice. I don't know if that famous restaurant is still open over in Ybor now or not? In the 60's there were lots of folks from my small town who drove over for Spanish dinners. I did browse through the Tomato Festival photos from Spain and that looked like a blast. Maybe we could adapted a version of it here in FL as a tourist attraction....I have a wee bit of Spanish genes from way back so that's why I maybe I like some Spanish foods.

Nomadicus - I believe you are talking about the famous Columbia Restaurant in Ybor (there are others in Florida now). Yes, it is still there, and back in the 1950's it was the place all the movie stars and dignitaries who visited Tampa came to eat. My father worked there for many years and met many famous people including Marilyn Monroe!

That's the place. I just couldn't remember the name. I think I'll take the wife over there one day soon. That would be a treat. I still have time before the tourist season kicks in to high gear so maybe it will not be as crowded as it will be come cooler weather. Thanks. Do you know what street it is on? I can probably find it in a phone book now that I know the name.
