Where is it better to go for New Year. Last year we went to Orlando-Miami-Key West. Liked it a lot! So this year we want to celebrate New Year in sunny summer weather again. What places would you recommend in Florida. We are not really interested in partying, rather in quite rest - nature, historical sights/architecture/museums, may be beach etc. Is St. Petersburg a good place for vacation? What about Tampa? May be any other places? Thanks!

How about Sanibel Island, Marco Island and Captiva Island?

I can not guarentee warmth, last winter was awful. Although the Pensacola Pelican Drop is getting to be a really big event

Head to Naples. You can go to Everglades City for nature or the Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary, the beach is just fine there, stroll Fifth Ave., head to Tin City, hit some flea markets. You'll have a nice, relaxing time in some *usually* very warm, pleasant weather

We have spent several New Years nights and the New Years Days at Disney World and had a total blast.

But Disney hits capacity by noon on NYE and Epcot and MK are people to people mobs so if you don't like crowds it is the place to avoid.

Tampa/St. Pete would be a great area to vacation. Won't be as crowded as the Orlando area. Busch Gardens has a few nights of fireworks for NYE so might even want to go there on the 30th or even Jan1 ( park is very uncrowded on that day in the past) instead of battling the bigger crowds on NYE. We love BG and the museum by the college. The beaches in St. Pete are beautiful. Check out Pass-a-Grille Beach and Fort George which are over the bridges to the South. We had great times there with our sons.
Then as someone said check out Fort Myers/Naples area-Edison's house is a great tour. Sanibel Island to get some cool shells iwould be another stop for us. Then head to East coast going through the Everglades.

Have fun!

Might have named the wrong beach---might be Fort Desota that is close to St. Pete...been awhile since been on the west coast for the beaches.

Love crowds of people having fun.

We like crowded beaches not empty beach etc, and would not have any fun if Disney was empty.

Crowds do not bother us at all and have never bothered us even at Disney on NYE jammed packed.

If you are the type who wants no crowds and no people having a blast it is best to stay home.

Or they could just go to a place where there are no crowds
