Cops: Utah man shot in face, stomach when he tries to resist arrest on federal charges (http://www.keysnet.com/212/story/80046.html - broken link)

Why does Florida need para-military law enforcement? I mean, in this case, the EPA was packing!!!

Who empowers Florida police to behave the way they do? Is it a "Southern thing" ?

A fugitive points a gun at a deputy trying to arrest him and you are wondering why he got shot? Duh!

He was in his trailer yelling that he had a rifle, but the rifle was in fact outside in his truck. He was unarmed. (Read the story)

Why couldn't they have used tear gas, pepper spray, or flash-bang grenades to stun him? They shot an unarmed man multiple times because they were serving him with a warrant for a non-violent crime...

LEO's in Florida are on steroids or something... They should vent their $35k/year anger in more positive ways, like blowing away the Taliban in Afganistan.....

From the article.

"after pointing an assault rifle at authorities attempting to arrest him."

I think you need to work on your reading comprehension Cuba.

This scum deserves to die instead of costing the tax payers $40K a year

More enforcement like this may stem the tide eventually of all criminals...Criminals need to think first more so than those risking their lives daily to protect law abiding citizens...

Wow, does this guy have no reading comprehension at all. As others have posted it is stated in the article the suspect pointed an assault rifle at officers and threatened them with it... What more do you need to have to open fire on scum like this. I am not law enforcement and would have done the same thing, and these guys do it on a daily basis.

They should be commended as heroes, what if this guy had done this to kids or innocent bystanders, and police were not around, could have been another tragedy. Instead we have posters like the OP putting them down, this is sickening to me the way some people think.

Seems to me nowadays that the people most afraid of police are the people committing the crimes.

"Smith said authorities found ammunition and weapons inside Baggett's silver Toyota four-door pickup, which was parked outside the trailer."

The rifle was in the truck, along with the ammo. The guy inside the trailer was wailing and yelling threats, not wielding a weapon.

You guys can choose to believe the blue wall of silence if you want. If the officers were so justified in shooting this suspect, why is the FDLE conducting an internal investigation into the shooting? This case is clear cut - the flat topped, good ol' boy cops went a little trigger happy...

Anytime there is a police shooting they have an IAD investigation. It doesn't matter who shoots what and who has what weapons.

You should really do some reading on law and law enforcement.

You really don't read well... do you?

Three EPA agents and a Monroe County Sheriff's Office deputy attempted to serve an arrest warrant on Baggett at the trailer shortly before 9 a.m., but he threatened the officers with the rifle, according to EPA officials, who said the officers were forced to defend themselves.

So what do you hate more, Florida or cops?

I don't live in Florida but I'm still smart enough not to talk junk to someone that has a gun.
