lol- yes- maybe- I remember how clean that Publix was- excellent service- they even had Mortadella (so you can make superbowl sunday Muffaletta-like Emeril-lol-) want the recipe? Where I am now I am lucky they have salami-lol---(this could be my ace in the hole to make my husband move back to N. Florida- lol)

Publix should do well with that- there is definitely a market for it!.

I had a bad experience with a publix cashier (hobe sound) not long ago. She went bonkers because I put all 3 of my gallon water bottles on the converyor belt. I couldn't believe she was serious.

Ne way, when I got home I emailed my experience to the chain's web site. The next day or the day after that a supervisor from Palm beach called and asked for directions to my home. He said he was sending up the store manager.

Sure enough, an hour or so later , the manager is at my door and as apologetic as he can be. He even gave me a 25 dollar publix gift card. I doubt many other businesses in this country would ever even consider such a thing. Publix will always have a postive image to me (especially after that).

We have 2 Publix stores here in this part of Port Charlotte ( Tamiami Trail ) and we shop at both of them. There's a Winn Dixie also but frankly we avoid it. Sweetbay is in Punta Gorda and they have an excellent produce department, meats and fish although the staff is rude as heck.

Pick N Run on Peachland has a real life Italian deli that has fresh mozzarella every day ( Publix on Quesada does too but it's not the same ), as well as all the typically Italian foods. Great Cappicola! Many types of Genoa and other salami's. It's definitely a factor when one looks elsewhere to buy a house and one ( of several ) reasons we nixed places like Tenn, Kentucky etc. Lack of foods. Western NC has a couple smaller places close to Asheville but almost nothing in surrounding areas until you go further east. But THANKFULLY we can get real Italian here in PC.

Now if we could only get a real Asian grocer here........BUT, there's a good Chinese market in Ft Myers as well as a Korean one. And Broward is not too far away and there's plenty there.

I miss Publix!!. We have Kroger here, and the store manager DID mail a gift certificate when I complained on their website about a rude cashier. Publix had the best selection I've ever seen, though, and I have to make do right now. We can't even get decent Chinese food! (Asheville is the closest city to where we live-for now---lol)

Chinese food in Asheville is Doc Shays which is a glorified Ramen Noodle restaurant.

HOWEVER, there is a real live Chinese grocery store, on the street behind the denny's which is the main street going from Asheville to Candler.

I'll try to remember the name of the street and post it.

My Wife is from Vietnam and believe you me., SW Fla is bad enough but once in WNC we feel like we're roaming the countryside in Deliverance at least when it comes to Asian food. ( Or Italian food ) I can't even imagine where you are in Tenn.

You might want to consider making a run once a year to NJ/NY/Broward Cnty, and getting some friendly connections who will ship/fed ex/ups your favorites to you.
