Has ANYONE had any problems with getting back prepaid insurance monies after a home was sold?

I sold my parents home on March 31st and was told in Dec when we paid the insurance for a year in advance that when the house sold we would get a pro-rated refund.

I have gotten the run around by State Farm [who was the agent since they held the polciy for 32 years before] and am now being asked for HUD settlement statement etc. It just seems another obstacle. There was no lienholder to satisfy nor were any claims made. We just want the money back and are not getting it. I am getting such nonsense as "I never got your email(s)" when I have Read Receipts showing the recieved and read it.

I just sent them the property tax statement showling the home sale in March and am waiting for reply [I don't have a fax machine and am not sure a legal size document will fax, and I would have to go to a store to make a photocopy that size, and don't think that 2 months after the fact I should have to jump through yet another hoop]

Suggestions? I figure I will go to the insurance commissioner next if no quick refund.
