Hi Everyone,

I'm just curious as to what people come up with. I know that I'm going to get a lot of "let me know when it exists" type comments, and I am aware that there is no "perfect" place in the world. Really, I'm just looking for suggestions.

Thanks in advance!

I'm looking for a place with the following:

1. Moderate Climate. I'm from NJ and would be very happy if I never saw snow again. A light brush here and there is fine.

2. Socially liberal. I don't want gasps if two men are walking down the street together holding hands (of course anywhere but San Fran there will be looks, but I dont think I could live in a place that would then start a rally on how theyre going to murder them), or if I have a black friend come visit me (I'm white), and we decide to go out to dinner. Also, not a church on every block, please. Oh hell, let's just say it, they lean to the left on voting day.

3. Moderate home prices. Of course, living in Jersey, I'm sure anywhere will look great, but ideally, I would love to be able to get a 3 bedroom for 200k-ish.

4. Within an hour to the coast.

Since this is posted to the Florida forum, I'll give you a relevant answer. Check out the Tampa Bay area, specifically the Kenwood neighborhood of St Petersburg or Seminole Heights in Tampa. Both neighborhoods have a higher density of gay residents, are quite liberal, very friendly neighbors (porch parties!) and great restored housing stock (bungalows primarily) in your price range (under 200K).

If you want to be close to the coast, I really recommend St. Petersburg. This is a beautiful city with a lot of amenities and numerous gay-friendly neighborhoods in all price ranges. I have a gay relative living there and he couldn't be happier. St. Pete has a great "bohemian" vibe that I love.

Thank you both of you. I'm not gay. I just didn't want to live where people have lynch parties over two men or women holding hands. I will check both of these places out. Thanks so much, again!

You might want to try North Port in southern Sarasota county. You could pick up a nice, newer home for around $100k. It's about 30 minutes from the beaches. The average age is 38. It's also below the frost line of Tampa so generally things stay pretty warm, even in the winter.

is the one that established it would have to be an southeast coast choice.

Just kidding, I thought the question was for ANY place in the USA also.

Moderate climate can be many things to many people,Floridas high 80's to mid 90 degrees with high humidity for 8+ months a year doesnt sound like my idea of moderate.
I'd be more inclined to do some research on coastal NC or GA.

If you are set on Florida St Petersburg is a fine city with a lot to offer and some great beaches close by=
