Hi!
We'll be vacationing in FL in Feb/coming down from MI
Previously we stayed in Sarasota and Ft. Myers, this time we're looking for something different and a new area to discover. Palm Harbor looked interesting? Any feedback?
Looking for quiet accomodations yet close to some craziness if we want. Beaches and excursions are a plus. Is Palm Harbor a safe area?

Yes. Palm Harbor is a safe area.

U.S. 19 runs right through there, and it's VERY busy in that area.

Try to avoid traveling on that road as much as possible.

There are some nice beaches to check out in the area as well, although it has been quite chilly lately by Florida standards. Balmy for Michigan though.

Check out Tarpon Springs, which is the next town North of Palm Harbor.

It's a nice little greek community with some good food.

Also, check out Howard Park in Tarpon Springs as well. It's a must see.

There are signs that show how to get there, or just ask a local.

There are many places in just Pinellas county alone.

Clearwater beach, St. Pete, St. Pete Beach, Caladesi Isl, Ft. DeSoto, etc, etc.

Like I said, just be careful when traveling on U.S. 19.

It's a pretty dangerous stretch of highway in that area.

Have fun! Any more questions, feel free to ask.

I also agree with this one. Also south of Howard Park is a little island I think is called Sunset. Worth the trip to check it out.

If you have to choose one I would go for the Ft Desoto or Caladesi myself. Amazing beauty!

Palm Harbor is safe, and convient. Alot of people in Pinellas county want to live there. I second previous posters, Tarpon is an awesome little place.
