LOL seems to me that some people can't handle the heat and are whining about it.

If you don't like hot or humid weather than maybe you shouldn't live in Florida?

Chris, seriously your idea of the summer in the north is very warped - it is hardly wat you claim it to be - it is hazy, hot and humid more often than not and people do complain but that complaining is always accompanied by - this is still better than being cold!

You are so right. There are softball leagues and little league games that go on all summer long during the heat of the day. You can get conditioned for it. Minor league baseball games are here all summer too. The boys of summer play ball. And yes the golf courses are busy during the day too. And lots of folks go fishing during the day. Everyone doesn't hide on a recliner under an AC vent during the hot humid summers. Someone suggested to me that people ought to spend a summer in San Antonio, TX and then move to FL and enjoy the summers then.

My cousins who are young play year round sports and are outside during all months of the year and have a blast

My favorite thing to do in the summer is wake up early and hit the beach from 9 to 4 in the afternoon. Then go home and dip in my pool, and then sit out and enjoy the cooler temperatures at night.

Yes, I'll agree with the fact the it stays warmer longer in Florida, but I do not agree that the dead of summer there is any hotter than summers in other places - after all it is SUMMER - the season of HOT HUMID and HAZY weather!! Please let's be logical when approaching the subject!

For me the litmus test of a place's heat and humidity is, how many summer nights is it comfortable to sleep with the bedroom window open (no air conditioning). When I lived in Miami, the answer was zero! As doggiebus pointed out, what distinguishes FL's summer heat is how relentless it is. In northern summers you usually get cool streaks among the hot streaks. Not so for FL summers, hot & humid all the time, 24/7 . Too humid for me, that's why I don't live there any more.

Not to me personally. Then again I'm from TN & in the summer our humidity is usually within 5%-10% different from FL. Sometimes it higher here & sometimes its hotter there. And out summer temps are usually only about 5* different, again either higher or lower.

But physically being able to tell the difference, you really can't. And yes I've been there. in 2007, 2008, & 2009 in July (in Daytona for the 4th). In fact last year, the week we were down there in FL, I believe it was hotter here in TN than it was in FL.

But it just depends on where you're from & what you're use to. I mean I may be use to the heat & humidity but that doesn't mean it's not hot. I mean it's defiently hot. But there also, if you visit anywhere in the South in the Summer it's going to be hot & humid. But again, I'm use to it because I've lived in it my whole life, just in TN, not FL.

I see several people on here complaining about it. Makes me have second thoughts about moving down there at all.
I guess Im gonna have to visit in July to see for myself.
It really depends on how much heat and humidity you can take. If you're more of a cold-weather person, you might find it oppressive. If you're used to dealing with heat, it shouldn't be too bad.

It would probably be a good idea for you to come down during the summer and feel the weather.
