Just sit back... relax... and have a little fun chatting with the other members of our Florida forum. This isn't a place to argue or quarrel over little things... this is a place for all of us to just get along with each other and have a little fun chatting!

I don't regard this as a chat room, there are plenty of other places to do that. This site is a source for information, people wanting to do some research, ask questions and get answers in a timely manner and so on. No one wants to sift through a bunch of, "I just came back from the store and pizza was on sale, I think I will wash the dog today, talk later".

Then they shouldn't click on this thread, since there are literally thousands of other threads for that info. People can gauge the vibe of an area from our local chatter.

City-Data is a relocation forum not a chat board, some times threads can turn into chat threads more so than informational threads. So this is a good idea, if you would like to chat with other members this is the thread to do it in. Hopefully this will keep the other threads just informational.

So don't read it and don't post on it....all is well in your world now....

We did see the shuttle go up but in the comfort of our house. We figured it just wasn't safe for us to drive over there again with so little sleep.

I did take yesterday off from work and got the errands I didn't do this weekend done. Always good to strike chores off the list.

I can't imagine why Florida took so long to have a chat thread. I didn't think of it, either, for that matter. Knoxville has had one for a couple of years. Even Fort Myers has one, although it rarely get used; too many folks busy locked in written warfare for that!

At any rate, great idea! It should probably be a sticky.

So we had some soffit damage a few weeks back from one of those no-name but gusty winter storms. And it's kicked off plans for the punchlist of home improvements we've been talking about for years. (And yes, we're cool with the debt load and could still walk away with six figures in our pocket if we had to sell even after improvements)

Anyone want to tell me about impact glass windows? I love the idea of getting something a) of really good quality to replace the original from 1983 windows and slider we've got now, and b) the whole thing where you can repeatedly whack them with the pointy end of a 2x4 and not break the glass. But there's also the sticker shock compared to some nice entry level Andersons, which would still meet current code for my area.

I was a swim team kid growing up, and think there's a special place in heaven for swim team parents. The only ones who seem to get asked for a bigger committment are the hockey parents and maybe the gymnasts. So thanks for supporting your kids efforts!
