Over- sushi. It's okay, but people talk about it like it's the best thing on earth. Not even close
Under- eggplant parmesan. I think it's fabulous, but not very many people have even tried it.

Overrated:
- Mozarella (no taste; other cheese is way better)
- Barbecue (It's is ok when friends/relatives are invited. But bbq itself is not the way to maken your food better)
- Donuts/bagels (the hole in it is useless)
- Pasta "carbonara" (monotome, fat, salty)
- Duck (personal opinion)

Underrated:
- Organ food (sometimes the cheapest meat is the best part)
- Horse meat

Overrated: Alfredo sauce. It overpowers the flavor of whatever you put it on.

Underrated: Mushrooms.

Many different cultures have a great appreciation for bbq-like dishes.

Just to name a few: Argentina, Uruguai, Korea, Japan, Brazil, and actually many others.

Also, there are fantastic dishes from American cuisine that have nothing to do with bbq whatsoever.

My statement was obviously simply referring to many different bbq-like dishes.

Overrated: Any kind of Italian food. I'm so sick of hearing about Italian food nonstop. Italian food is 200 different ways to prepare the same thing, you can only do so much with pasta, tomato's, garlic and various meats. Essentially Pasta is water and flour yet you pay top dollar for it. Ridiculous.

Underrated: Sauerkraut, different kinds of sausages as well as a variety of other German Foods

I think he/she was being sarcastic. At least that's how I took it.
