Me likes. Had my first Egg Creme when my family took a vacation to the East coast back in the 1970's. Yum. Don't find many places here in the west that do proper egg cremes if at all. Have to make at home. Speaking of which its been a few years since I had one. Time to whip out the Seltzer bottle.

Also whats with all this other crap they are trying to put into a glass and call it an egg creme. Olive Oil? WTF?!? Yuck the sound of that makes me want to hurl.

I'd never heard of egg cream until last year, when rainroosty told me about it and shared his recipe. Good stuff!

The egg cream is one of the NY foods I miss ALOT.
It's up there with bagels, pizza and deli egg sandwiches.
It's just one of those things people should leave alone it dont need to "evolve"

I think that there is something about NYC water, the seltzer, that makes it...people say the same thing about the water, that it does something to pizza crust, and bagels as well...here, in the West, people think an "egg cream" is like, Egg Nog!!!! nasty!

Love(d) egg creams and root beer floats.
I remember only one place locally that had egg creams where I grew up, so I can't judge good/better/best. But they sure hit the spot in the hot summer, before we had A/C.
Thanks for the memories.

Is it just milk, chocolate syrup, and carbonated water? [scratching head]

I have never had one. To be honest, that doesn't sound like it would even taste good. But I would definitely be open to trying one if I were in NY. The idea is kind of intriguing. They are something I have always heard about in books and movies. Plus I like Lou Reed.

Yep, seltzer water, milk and chocolate syrup. Some people probably have secret ingredients. Here is one recipe: Egg Cream Recipe - Allrecipes.com

My version, cold cola, melted vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup. And other variations.

"doesn't sound like it would even taste good"? Hey, have you had a banana with peanut butter on it? If not, try it..
