great ideas. thanks. I've found a lot of Moms won't admit to cutting corners and fixing an "easy" quick meal when necessary. yet we all know they do it every time.
all I have to say is thank god for ragu.
forgot to mention that I'm home just a few days from pacemaker surgery and still a bit wobbly and not ready to tackle poor balance and grocery shopping in this heat. We are planning to go as soon as they open in the morning and hoping to get some fresh veggies and stock up on staples which I let get too low over the past month.
Hope you are back to normal in no time. We have had 2 friends recently that have had pace makers: one was playing bridge 2 days later. The other re-couped almost as fast. I am sure by next week you will be as good as new. Good luck.. the heat alone would keep me from tackling the grocery store, especially on Saturday. Yes, Ragu can be a friend that never stops giving... and yes, you are right, lots of mommies, probably 99% know how to throw a quick, and easy meal on the table. I would love to check the freezers of those who cliaim they never use pre-pared meals of any kind. I use as few as almost anyone I know becasue cooking has always been my passion, but I can assure you, when the occasssion arises, I take advantage of those quicky meals. I don't think there has ever been a kid hurt by an occassional quicky meal, even as junky meal from time to time and when was the last time you heard a person menion being mentally damaged by a mom who fixed them a dinner out of a jar, box or can once in awile when they were growing up?

The middle of the country, for one. Kansas City metro has broken 100 every day for over a week and counting.
I don't have little kids anymore, but used to be tacos, spaghetti, Rice-A-Roni, rotisserie chicken, grilled cheese. Used to make little pizzas with English muffins, pizza sauce and shredded mozarella, then melt in the oven. Also used to make "nachos" with any kind of crackers or chips, taco sauce, and some kind of cheese, then put in the microwave till cheese melted. Tuna salad, tuna casserole. They loved the cheap Totino's cheese pizza so I used to keep a lot of those on hand. They also liked Ramen noodles.
Surprisingly, Rice A Roni and Kraft mac and cheese - together - are kind of good. Found that out one time when there was a storm approaching and we didn't feel like going out to the store. Made both, put them in a bowl together - and it was pretty good!
Also used to make pasta salad with tri colored pasta, Wishbone Italian dressing, chicken (we used leftover rotisserie chicken), and whatever else we had to throw in there - olives, red, green or yellow peppers, parmesan cheese, etc.

Go to Aldis in Bay Shore buy their frozen chinese veg. $3.49. add chicken,shrimp.or beef,10 minutes your done.Add soy and hot mustard
We don't have kids and I already do that as a meal anyway but I use fresh veggies for that. I can cook a 3 course meal in under 1 Hour anyway. I do buy frozen veggies though.
daughter reminded me of tuna patties I haven't made in awhile.
Drain one can tuna and break into bowl with about sleeve of saltines and 2/3 can cream of celery soup.
Make into patties and cook slowly in sprayed pan. if you cook too fast the outside gets brown but the insides don't get cooked.
mix left over soup with a bit of mayo as topping.
Thanks for all the ideas. We did get to the store early Sunday but unfortunately fresh produce is picked over by then. Still I got lettuce, celery, broccoli, carrots, squash and some fruits. We are set for now but I still like to hear of everybody's favorite easy meal.
