Going back to my childhood. I'm quite surprised at today's kids. They think steak and milk comes from WAl-Mart.

Is there anyone else out there who knows how to dress game or dress some meat? I hope it's not just me.
(Don't think it is, just asking.) Amazing to find people these days that can't cut a chicken into parts or (Dear God) can't cut up a large animal into parts.

Tux....bow tie? LOL! I think most should be able to carve up a chicken or turkey. If you've got a hunter in the family they'll generally need the skills. Otherwise, most leave the larger stuff to butchers at the grocery store/butcher shops.

I only did it once. My boss at the time raised turkeys for Thanksgiving and we all killed and dressed the birds. I can't say I enjoyed it.

I think most wives would answer "yes" to this.

When I was a teen in the south living with a family, I was in charge of dressing the hogs that we raised or the wild ones we caught. I remember putting the hog in the big black cast iron vat of lye water and pulling all the hair off. Hang em high and go to work. And I'm a gal. Long time ago but I could probably still do it today.

I've done deer, antelope, duck, pheasant, dove, quail, rabbits, geese, trout, salmon, bass, steelhead and many others on our large 10 person kitchen table with appropriate coverings of course.

In my youth, we used to do 40 hens at a time annually.

In my wife's family, it was 2-3 hogs each year.

It was always an experience to look forward to. Unfortunately most of that generation (grandparents) are long gone.

Stepford wife here. I've helped my husband with deer, if that counts. And growing up we always butchered our own chickens but I haven't done that since a headless chicken chased me around the yard.

Ahha had to be one. Guess my wife would make that claim also. I've done deer, javelina's, quail, dove, rabbit's and fish . Many years ago though. Wife has helped way back too. We stick to the poultry mostly these days. I had a long chase for a turkey once turned out pretty ugly. No wild turkey for me either. After plucking and the mites and the mess there's not much bird there.
