I've read about this on a handful of alternative medicine websites, so when I started feeling the symptoms of a cold come on, I decided to give it a shot.
On Sunday evening I started feeling a sore throat. All the websites say you are supposed to use the peroxide as soon as you feel cold symptoms, but I waited until Monday night. Even then, it seems to have helped, since I am pretty much over the cold already, and the symptoms never really got that bad. I generally get a cold two or three times a year, and every time, it follows a very predictable pattern of symptoms, intensity, and duration. But this time was different. Usually my colds last about 10 days, but this one lasted 4.
Here's what you do:
1) Lay down on your side, and put 3 drops of Hydrogen Peroxide in your ear. You'll hear it fizzling and crackling. Lay there for ten minutes, then switch sides and do the other ear.
2) Put about 1/3 a cup of the peroxide in a glass with 1/3 cup of water. The exact amount doesn't really matter, just use 1/2 water and 1/2 peroxide. Gargle with this solution. I did this twice a day, morning and evening.
I found that the gargle was an almost instant cure for the sore throat. I worked so well I couldn't believe it. After the sore throat went away, for the next couple days I had the usual sneezing and runny nose, but nothing as bad as my usual cold. Thursday morning I woke up and felt fine, so the cold lasted less than 4 days.
I hope it's not a problem that I copied and pasted this info. from another thread----but it sure is interesting!! Hope you are feeling better HighlandsGal.
1/2 c. butter or margerine
1/4 c. minced onion
2 c. sliced mushrooms (8 oz pkg)
1/3 c. flour
2 c. milk
2 c. half & half
salt/pepper
3/4 c. grated parmesan
2 c. cubed ham
7-8 oz. spaghetti (reg. or wheat)**
Saute onion and mushrooms in butter until onions are soft. Mix in flour well, then milk and cream, salt & pepper. Stir and cook over med. heat until thickened.
Cook and drain spaghetti. Toss spaghetti with 1/2 of the parmesan. Place in large casserole dish.
Layer the ham on top of the spaghetti. Then pour sauce over. Top with remaining cheese. This will be very soupy, but will thicken up while baking.
Bake 375 for about 20 minutes.
** I know what you might be thinking! You're thinking that 7-8 oz. of spaghetti is not enough pasta for 4 people, but just trust me on this one. If you use more pasta than is called for, it will wind up too dry.

Hey thanks! Still not feeling well, but it is Friday, so just one more day of work and I can rest this weekend. The hydrogen peroxide sounds scary! But I may try the salt water thing tonight. And now my ears are starting to plug up. I am the biggest wimp when I get sick!!
As for dinner tonight, who knows??? Maybe we'll bake ravioli or my man's sister has some gumbo for us to share. TGIF!
