Oatmeal gone wrong ... all that sugar ... but it is kinda yummy. Comfort food.
I do prefer old-fashioned or steel-cut oatmeal, with chopped apples or applesauce, and cinnamon. It's just not as convenient as tearing open the packet.
Interesting site, but the sugar content is not among those given (I checked). I'm sure it's on the item, itself, though, and that the sugar content is relatively high. That's normally how it is with processed foods.

Simple and complex carbs are lumped together as just carbohydrate.
Oh to have a big bowl of Oatmeal with brown sugar and maple syrup. That sounds like manta from heaven to me. Oatmeal is so good for your heart, but the carbs get me every time. Sometimes I eat a very tiny bowl of oatmeal, spreading it around in a bowl to look like it contains much more than it does. Being the good girl I am, I eat it with a tiny bit of honey and no milk. But, I can wish for the better stuff, poured all over the top. ****sigh****
As a child, it reminded me of something other than food.
I have returned to oatmeal as an adult. I prefer the oats that take time to cook but also the fast quick oats or okay in a pinch. Raisins, fresh fruits or preserves, milk, sugar and butter are preferred toppings/additions depending on the type of oats.
I wonder if anyone has used the apple type in a meatloaf.
You know how you start preparing a dish and find out that you don't have one ingredient and it is not worth driving to the store. So, you make a substitution....
I had a double serving of cooked oats this morning for breakfast with 2 english muffin slices and it was delicious.
Nothing fancy here, just oats made with 1/2 cup of milk and 1/2 cup of water for 1 cup of oats, sugar, milk and a teaspoon of butter after they were cooked.
I don't use the flavored oats since I prefer mine the original cooked on the stove way.
