I have the typical coffee maker with the basket filter. Sometimes the edge of the filter will collapse during use, causing water to stay in the top part, and grounds go into the pot.
I think this happens if one of the edges falls towards the center, causing water to fall on the outer surface of the filter, making it wet and it collapses.
To prevent this, I might put scotch tape around the filter so it doesn't collapse, have you ever done that?
Try not grinding the beans so finely. A coarser grind should help. Or get a gold filter and use the paper ones to wash your windows (they are great for that).
The problem with scotch tape is that it isn't waterproof. It and the sticky stuff is going to end up in your coffee. I'd pass on that idea.
The nozzle could be getting stopped up. If it's spraying around the top of filter wetting it first that could be the cause. You could look for a ring (plastic or a safe metal) slightly smaller diameter than the top of the filter. Set it in the filter to hold the top up and against the sides.
run the paper filter under the faucet for a second......if wet it will stick to the sides...and solve this ..
