I used to think nothing could beat a hot Krispie Kreme donut but then I had a hot, handmade donut from Stan's Donuts in Thousand Oaks California.

I know I am about to commit doughnut heresy here, but I just was not impressed by Krispy Kreme, warm or cold. Totally meh.

Best doughnuts were from a little independent shop in Tucson. I've no idea of the name, though.

The best doughnut I ever had was a glazed doughnut sliced like a bagel, dipped in egg/milk, and fried like French toast, then smothered in butter. Where? In my mom's kitchen.
