Someone told me that it aided digestion. Or maybe that was brandy I don't recall which. It seems like a good addition to a supper if you like the taste of it. I don't do it now but am going to give it a try. I thought Germans drank beer with their meal as a custom.
Yes, if I'm having pizza for dinner (or hot dogs for dinner at a Red Sox game! ). I like SOME beers (various Sam Adams ones, for example) but only with certain foods. When I drink alcohol, I usually drink margaritas, daiquiris, or similar.
Never heard that beer aided digestion. If it does, I never noticed!
If I am having an alcoholic drink with a meal, I choose beer. My choice of beer varies depending on what I plan to eat, so it is all over the place. Don't know about digestion, but beer and food is wonderful.
I love beer, but I rarely consume it with food because I like to focus on the flavor of what I'm drinking and nothing else. I doubt it helps with digestion, unless you count burping. There are many alcohols classified as digestifs that are supposed to help with this. They are liqueurs with various roots and herbs steeped in them.
If you want to have a beer with dinner...then have a beer (assuming you don't have issues with alcohol). Yes, Germans tend to drink beer.....but really....they don't pour that glass thinking it's a health food.
Beer is great! Beer with dinner is great. Beer with lunch is great. Beer with an afternoon snack is great. Heck - depending on what time my Packers game is on, beer works for breakfast too!
