Oh dear. Now I'm gonna have to start rearranging my cabinets to try to fit this new toy someplace.
Which cookbook did you buy?
I got Air Fryer cookbook by Todd English. I have found some things do a better job if you set the temp a little higher the recipe says. there seems to be a lot of books out there.
btw, not only do I love the way most things cook it is easy to clean up. We also use it about 3 or 4 times a week: does a great job on Egg rolls. I just made them, put a few at a time in the fryer with almost no oil and they turned out fantastic; served them at a couples group we had here a few weeks: 24 egg rolls, cut in half and all were gone in about 30 minutes.
Interestingly, dh was just telling me he had French fries made in an air fryer at work. I asked him if they turned out better than oven baked ones, and he said he thought so. I still don't want another small appliance, so I guess I'll pass.
I like ours, we got it last year, with a coupon. It cooks steaks better than the grill pan & also I buy the pre battered fish filets. They come out much crispier than oven baked. Fries are so so. We use it at least once a week, good for chicken too. I have yet to make home made potatoes in it, probably will, this week. It is the last small appliance I am going to buy, I have no more room for any more.
Interestingly, dh was just telling me he had French fries made in an air fryer at work. I asked him if they turned out better than oven baked ones, and he said he thought so. I still don't want another small appliance, so I guess I'll pass.
Haha! My wife has bought me so many "mini" appliances over the years that I barely ever use my oven anymore. Air Fryer, Nu-Wave Oven, Pressure Cooker, Slow Cooker, Egg poacher...

The thing I worry about is how hard is it to wash, and how big is it to store.
When I was younger, and had family close by, I had a lot of BIG family dinners and cookouts, etc. I used my Kitchenaid mixer, it's attachments, and my mini chopper a lot. I never had a big food processor, so I asked Santa for one and now I have it. Bad part is, I now live 1000 miles from the family gatherings, and I never use it.
Bottom line is, don't buy the pasta maker, because pasta is cheap. Don't buy the sausage stuffer unless you can't buy it, or you raise your own pork. What I'm saying is...there is a balance between needing to do something with the pig you just slaughtered and being 100 miles frrom a decent grocery store, and just wanting to be a more than an average cook.

Oh it's a nightmare to wash. The air fryer and nu wave in particular are a *****. Kind of like the foreman grill when it was the big hype.
I know it can't replicate the deliciousness of deep fried anything but wondered if it was a decent substitute.
