Would you pay $6 for a single serving of soup from a grocery store? No way! But apparently there are plenty who would.
Well, the containers are 16+ ounces....that's way more than a single serving. And yes many people will pay this for healthy choices. I buy freshly made soups for almost that much at a Mennonite grocery store. I buy several of them weekly for our lunches. Wegmans sells soup for about the same price. Whole Foods sells soup for more. It's all about target markets. They're not marketing to Dollar Tree shoppers. Many restaurants sell soup for this and much more.
Most of the places around here - Kroger's Safeway, and Sprouts serve soup for $4. I think that I would buy a HOT soup from a grocery store for immediate consumption than purchasing cold soup made by Campbell's.
I get soup at a local sandwich shop sometimes. It has big 1 inch chunks of chicken, sausage, or tofu, about 2-3 ounces in total protein. It costs $6.00 for 2 cups of soup, which I consider okay. No way would I pay that for a Campbell's type soup though.
